More than a destination, Hawai’i is a dream come true. An idyllic island paradise marooned in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, 2500 miles from Los Angeles, closer to Tokyo than Washington D.C. A land of outstanding natural beauty and abundant manmade treasures, of east meets west, past meets present, laid back Aloha vibe meets modern American efficiency.
You can probably tell from the introduction, we’re rather fond of Hawai’i. In fact, our love for this incredible heaven on Earth is so strong, we built The Aloha List simply to share with you the many things that make the islands of Hawai’i so special!
More than a list, our website is - or at least will be - a comprehensive guide to the state of Hawai’i and a one-stop-shop for vacationers wanting to make the most of their time on the islands. Born out of an unyielding passion for this amazing place, and built with practicality in mind, our mission at The Aloha List is threefold:-
To provide innovative search tools and up to date venue and activity guides that enable users to find their perfect Hawaiian hotel match, ideal restaurants, and personal vacation to-do list in just a few clicks.
To share stories about Hawai’i and its people that reflect the islands’ fascinating history, rich cultural heritage and contemporary status as a dream vacation destination.
To promote responsible tourism, encouraging our users to show respect for the land and traditions of Hawai’i by following local guidelines when visiting sites of historical and cultural significance.
More than a blog, we want this section of the site to inform, educate and entertain our readers with tales of Hawai’i, past, present and future. So much more than the stunning white sandy beaches and world class waves that it’s famed for, Hawai’i is a geographically and demographically diverse chain with a long history of immigration that helped shape the islands into the modern multi-cultural hub we see today.
We want our blog to reflect this, so as well as lots of list articles detailing the top hiking trails, best beaches, bars and restaurants on the islands, you can expect longer form pieces focussing on Hawai’i’s colorful history and proud Polynesian culture. There’ll also be reviews, profiles of notable Hawaiians and those who’ve chosen to call these islands home, and stories that celebrate the abundant Aloha spirit that makes this magical place quite unlike anywhere else on Earth. From the best shrimp trucks on the North Shore and the history of the Hawaiian shirt, to why the Magnum PI reboot just might be as good as the original, the broad range of topics we’ll cover are bound by the constant thread that is Hawai’i.
More than just us, we really want to hear from you! If there’s something we’re missing - a favorite restaurant, hotel or activity, a story from the islands we haven’t yet told, or even simply to reach out and say Aloha, our proverbial door is always open.
